Jaeger 1224 Elevation Bolt ?

Hi,

Can anyone please let me know if there is a supplier of "odd" size swing bolts? By "odd", I mean where the inner diameter of the eye is smaller than the thread diameter of the shaft. A Jaeger 1224 elevation bolt has a 12mm inner diameter eye and a 16mm thread on the shaft and I could do with a replacement for a 1224.

I could buy a normal 16mm swing bolt and shim the eye but if there is a supplier of the correct size it would be preferable.

Ah.. yeah, that one is a bit odd. I was also looking for one but was not able to find it. Will probably make my own whenever I eventually get around to restoring the motors.

Looks to be the only solution.

I will buy a small length of 16mm OD aluminium pipe with 2mm wall thickness and cut a shim from that. When used with a standard 16mm swing bolt it should give an ID of 12mm to the eye part of the bolt.

Use a length of 16mm studding, weld a nut on the end and then drill out the internal thread.

Thats quite a nice improvisation, did the did you buy the two "U tunnel" unistrut pieces off the shelf or were they offcuts from some other work?

The 'U' brackets are offcuts, luckily they match the 1224 almost perfectly. The stud between the two can be adjusted by undoing the nuts to give any elevation adjustment. The 1224 is actually the EL type and never came with adjuster rod.

did you ever source the correct swing bolt. ive got a rusty motor that needs a overhaul

Your question reminded me that I also have Jaeger which needs to be renovated. :p The bolt is M16, like on the picture. I could make you one out of INOX. But, as far as I know, INOX threaded bars are sold in 1m size. So, the bolt can turn a tad expensive. IMG_20241013_183044.jpg

The bolt in mine isnt in to bad of a condition its just siezed in the bracket, steel meets alloy. The small bar that runs through the large swing bolt looks like the end threads were purposfully damaged once the bolts were tightened. The smaller swing bolt on top is also toast

Rima,

If there is enough demand from any other forum members I will have three of the elevation bolts made from INOX, that will use up some of the 1.0m length.
We could do a UK single shipment then split the bolts up for onward postage in the UK, should save on postage costs from Europe that way?

That, for sure, would be much easier for me, and cheaper for end-users in UK.
