I received my Echostar 3600 back from repair and I think (hope) I mis-wired it and have blown the reed switch on the Jaeger H-H motor.

Can anyone advise how I could confirm if I have blown it or not, as well as what replacement I could use. I have seen several reed switches on Maplin site and have found a reed switch for the Superjack, but not Silent Gold.

OK, stuck an Ohmeter across the reed switch and moved the rotary disc with the magnets by hand and detected the opening and closing of the switch. I am going to check that the wires are clean at the receiver end but this is pointing more and more to the Echostar box having issues.

The box does not detect a change in the dish position when trying to realign dish (values remain constant on display) and also reports MOTOR ERROR. You can the unit clicking every second or so. When you try to switch between channels on different satellites it just cannot be bothered to move the dish.

And ideals welcome! If it helps the box just came back from repair with a replaced power supply after refusing too turn on at all.

Since you know the reed switch is ok ...you need to check for 36 volts on the motor connections ..
Test when the dish _should_ be in motion..not when stationary.
If this is present ...then you have probably connected 36v motor supply through the reed or reed connections on the echostar ..to the pulse count circuitry ..
This being the case ..sadly ..its back to the repair shop ..
A full explanation of what you have done will help the engineer ..
No point in trying to hide your mistake ..it just makes the technicians job that much more difficult.
