My Satellite Setup
Satellite on block of flats which receives Sky and Freesat
My Location
Eastbourne
Hi,
we live in an apartment building which has a satellite dish from which Sky or Freesat is 'piped' into each apartment via some form of distributor (dont know exactly what). we want to receive JSTV (by subscription) from a Hotbird 6 (?) dish but cant put a cable directly from dish to room where we want to watch JSTV. local aerial company says we need TV receiver with embedded cryptoworks and DiSCqC switching facility. they can supply and fit dish but dont supply and not prepared to fit the receiver because they say they are unreliable.
can anyone advise me whether there is an alternative more reliable way for us? many thanks.

Well you will need a seperate dish pointing at 13E, and if your apartment complex is prewired for Freesat/Sky then keep any normal installers well away from the existing setup - if they dont know EXACTLY what they are doing they could wreck the system!

According to a quick look at the JSTV website you just need a cryptoworks cam so chances are any decent receiver with a CI cam slot could be used.
