Trumpeter Kenny Ball has died aged 82. Although he was looked down upon by traditionalists his style of jazz was accessible to the general public and he made the number two spot in the charts in both the UK and USA with his greatest hit "Midnight in Moscow".

Kenny was touring right up to the last with fellow jazzmen Acker Bilk and Chris Barber - indeed he was booked to play in Grantham Lincolnshire tomorrow. He expressed the wish that his son Keith carry on with the Jazzmen.

RIP Kenny.

Exquisite timing - he'd have died anyway in Grantham: I went to school there and it was already a dull town. I gather it's awful now!

RIP Kenny.

Loved Kenny Ball, the gentleman of Jazz, think Sukiyaki was my favourite of his at the time. :) RIP Kenny.
