Just bought a DM500S at boot sale

Hi, I am very new to Dreamboxes (about 1 hour). Have just bought one at the bootsale for 15 Euro. Though worth a punt at that, got remote but nothing else.

My questions are

- How do I tell if it is real or not (as I understand that will effect my choice of image?
- The power input is 12V - could someone tell me if the center pin is +ve or -ve?
- Any drawbacks using this old box over the newer types?
And he big question, what do I need to read (there is sooo much info here)? I want to load a tv listing similar to Sky channel numbers, I want to get a FTV Sky card to work in the box, I then want to wirelessly run another Dreambox in the house using the card, then I will subscribe to Sky to watch different subscription channels in different rooms.

Don't worry whether or not it is a clone, just avoid any Gemini image. Also don't worry about it being an old box.

Power input - centre pin is positive

I suggest you get your box working before worrying about the finer details in your last set of questions.
