So I figured a dedicated KaC thread would be a good idea...
Obviously this being the military band I'm not expecting images just scans etc ..
But it's useful to know where we are pointing and what sats we are looking at ..
I'll kick it off with this possible beacon transponder as yet not identified by me ....
Hopefully this will help in the general Ka band scheme we are trying to compile.
The peak is at 20680 ..and a simple sharp peak unmodulated carrier..97 clicks west of WGS3
Which assuming WGS3 is 12W makes this approx 21W ?
anyone ??

It's a rather bad time of the year to know where these satellites are!
There are very few visual observations these months, because of lack of darkness for most.

As you may have seen already in my list, nothing known to me for many degrees around 21°W.
The new Inmarsat-5 F2 at 20.2°W has Ka-band, but not above 20.2 GHz afaik?

Edit: Gunter's space page mentions US government use for Inmarsat-5 series.
I read that as either X- or Ka-band 20.2...21.2... will do some more searching.

Thanks for the reply buddy ..
So for now it remains a mystery ...
Currently investigating another much smaller peak at roughly 20332 ....can't get a lock as yet ...but may be modulated in qpsk ..
approx 23 to 25 W

Yes, I have that as somewhere around 22W, but could be somewhat east of that. Checking with the Hughes, maybe a little off LOF, and wrong polarity indicated.
Ignore the satellite name.

I don't know what the other one is, just noise on checking.

Indeed Inmarsat-5 series has 20.2...21.2 GHz payload, I overlooked the text on page 5 of this pdf:

Thanks LVDH ..
at least I can now add this posn to my word doc for this lnb ..
It now has a name ..
lol
Still searching this band but not a lot in my visible arc and not sure of the 2 sats in cklose proximity at roughly 38-39 East..

Yes AS, Athena Fidus at 37.8°E and Sicral 2 at 37.0°E is what VS meant.

VS, what you suspect between 23 and 25 West is interesting, try to find if and when it peaks.
Then it might be Mentor 2 spy sat with 9° inclination near 26.5°W, crossed the beld about 15 min ago.
But since the TLE for this one is very old (April), time and location is not so reliable.

Can't see anything substantial now ..but will try again tomorrow ...
can you post belt crossing times ...so I can be ready..?

I have that one with the Hughes LNB on the Triax 88 VS, but also 20280H, same SR/FEC so presumably the same satellite. Is this a new feed?
