Over here in Ireland, RTE are going to use Ka band to broadcast RTE in the clear, on a spot beam from 13e or 9e.This is going to happen in a year or so and I would like to know which meter would be the best for installing this type of lnb, or do I align with a normal universal and then swap out for a Ka lnb.
Bit of a mixed question I know, but it does have relevance to the meter section.

I think there will be no difference is it C Ku or Ka band because from lnb always goes the same IF band 950-2150MHz, and the only difference is LOF wich you can easy enter manually in most od the meters.

Where did you here that?
 
Now that I own a Satlook G2, after reading the manual it seems it won't do for the upcoming Ka-Sat frequencies, due to start here for RTE in late spring.
Am I missing something or do I need (yet) another meter, as it will be crucial in the next 18 months or so, as DTT here will have a lot of gaps to be filled by Ka-Sat at 9e.
 
What does it say in the manual that makes you think it won't work for Ka band dish alignment?
 
Well, it gives instruction on how to set up for C-band, but the options dont seem to give a large enough frequency differential to reach Ka band.
As in LO setting.

We don't yet know (AFAIK) how much of the frequency band will be used, i.e. single band or high and low band, but I think it's just a matter of the manuals having not yet been rewritten. The intermediate frequencies will be much the same coming out of a Ka band LNB as a Ku band LNB.
 
I think the spot beams will each be high or low / vertical or horizontal, so only 1/4 of Ku beams.
If the LO settings of the meter do not meet that of the lnb, then it may prove useless for Ka.
The highest LO setting for this meter is 11475 MHz.
