Syracuse scan 1.webp Syracuse scan 2.webp Yes there are peaks higher up Llew ...but can't currently lock anything ..
These are the 2 scans taken with just the plate rotated through 90 degrees ..
Now I'll go rotate the lnb physically and try 2 more scans ..
ya never know
;)

Nope ..
Physical lnb rotation makes no difference (as expected)
But that one lockable transponder I can now lock at over 14 db ..
and it does appear to carry unresolvable video data..Syracuse video data.webp

So that is the same parameters as the one on 5.2W?

So 2 scans without plate for LVDH who asked me to check out Sicral 1B ..
Its clear from the scans my suspicions were correct ..
The 2 scans were taken with the linear lnb rotated through zero and 90 degrees ..
The second scan shows nothing so indeed the 3 peaks 2 of which are lockable here are linear ..and carry a video stream either blank of non resolveable

As far as I'm aware Llew ..
I am indeed looking at 5.2W with those 2 scans

Ok ...off to look at Hispasat next ..
Though not expecting anything ..
There is Ka activity but I suspect lower frequency in the Ka B band..

Nothing on Hispasat ...but before I start the tedious task of single stepping ..
Any other non inclined or currently inclined but on arc birds worth a look LVDH ?
Keep in mind my arc limits ..
roughly 50E to 55W

Sorry I'm not at home and have little time the next few days.
But you'll find possible candidates in my list (marked 'c' in the Ka column).
WGS 5 at 52.5°W would be within your range but maybe doesn't beam into Europe.
There's not much more in the West arc.

Maybe you'll spot the new Sicral 2 at 37°E ? It's not visually reported yet, nor a press release saying it has arrived there.

Can anybody throw any light on what seems to be two Ka beacon frequencies from Arabsat 5c or another sat that's occupying 20°East.
Polarity unknown at this stage - only able to use Vertical at the moment on the lnb.

20 East ... Ka. reduced..webp

Astra 1H is at 67.1°W nowadays, but instead this catch may be Astra 1L that has 18.3...18.8 GHz as well.

.... It's about .5° to .6° up from my Astra 1L position Hans. I can see vertical signals from 1L drop on the Promax as i move up to this position around 20°East.

5C Ka band would not be visible in western Europe, they are (or should be) tightly packed over the gulf of Arabia

They're H Pol John. Def seem to be more 19E than 20, but I'm doing coarse adjustment on the Triax 1M (hand job, motor disconnected).

Excuse the shading, pic taken outside.

Mystery Beacons.webp

... thanks for that Llew, now the suns come out and the snow has gone off the roof i'll go up on the roof and change the polarity on the Hughes to see if it alters my search results.

Be safe

Those beacons are quite powerful for me, more so than the V carriers.
