Ka project....

Going on the lnb changer on the 1.8 at the moment Chris but next year (day after tomorrow) ... will put it on a dedicated changer for Ka units only on a metal 1.5 Gib dish and make it a rear motor design like Trust1 & Rimants designs and use a spare 1224 H-H motor. That's the plan anyway, but the world might have come to an end first with how things are going lol.
Good luck with the he gibertini 1.5 setup, please post some photos when you are done.

will do, no problem ;)

Edit: would you be good enough Chris to give me the vertical and the horizontal measurements of your 1.5 Gib please. Ta.

I can't recall using the Trust feeds on any LNB other than the SL3s John. Just the XMW FD9000 and feedhorns taken from Invert0/Triax Ka LNBs.

I wouldn't presume to suggest what type of of feedhorn to use for Ka on your 1.8 dish, a little out of my range, 1.2m max here
The one supplied with the Hughes works well on my 1.8 Channel Master

Ahh, there lies the problem, i have only the oval Hughes horns

.... a bit of bench testing and tweeking of the XMW Ka polarity changer plus skew before mounting it inside it's enclosure and then onto the Trust multi lnb changer plate at some stage.
A short video clip of it in action here ....

What a neat idea John :-applause

Will be interested to see it installed on your dish.

Cheers Llew, the shape of the pll version of the XMW lnb lends itself lovely to slide the "tuning fork" fixings down. Everything apart from the F connector runs in line from the servo motor cog through to the front central point of the feed and travels through 90deg H to V with virtually no miss-alignment of the front of the feed. Fancied doing this project the way it is as i'm not a massive fan of OMT's & diseqc switches in general although i will be using a Spaun 4 x 1 switch on some Cband units on my lnb changer.
