Ka project....

Where did you get this changer, John? Nice piece of equipment.

From "Ricks satellite", USA, Rimant. It will do more functions if you want it to, i am just using it in manual mode for the time being. I have a servo motor tester that does a similar job but is not as stable as the USA one and is not automatic.
Here's the spec sheet for the APC .....

.... Under pressure from freind Scopus Chris to get my finger out and produce an image iv'e had to go out this morning in the freezing cold and rain and lash up the XMW. It's miles off bore-sight, no skew control, not at optimum focus and yet is giving me a nice result which i can only improve on. Result :D:D

Good signal there JG. About time you did some work! I'd say you were not far off at that, raining here at the mo, just a dB lower. waiting for my XMW feed to try out nowP1010029.webp

Also ordered one for the Hughes, thanks Feedsat, bargain price......
Well, it seems my feed might have gone astray, along with other bad luck at the moment. No entries on the tracking since the 9th with me the last being 'Plate-form Nord' in France, but John's was in the UK the day after leaving France. Sent Julien an E -mail to see if he can help.

Panic over, it arrived via DPD

Fitted Ka pll dual polarity unit to the changer plate and had a quick test.
Pleased with it's operation so far and with the aid of the analyser you can really tweek it for best performance and reduce any cross polarity with getting the skew right . The video shows how it can null out the offending Horizontaly polarised signal just showing itself. The changer is slowly filling up and is getting quite weighty.

They're always eating and drinking at their desks John whenever I look in, no doubt dropping bits of their BLTs. No wonder it's a rodent paradise. :-smallmam

Ring her up and tell her your discovery.........lol
They could cause some damage if there is a family of them, nibbling through all the cables...

We've had quite a bit of snow overnight, must say I'm well impressed with the XMW feed from Feedsat friends shop, with all the snow on the LNB's and dish still getting 12dB on Newsnet.P1010030.webp P1010031.webp P1010032.webp

Look at those poor little lnb's , they must be freezing bless 'em :D

I see your at focus with the XMW feed , as we both use the same dish and feed , we are both at focus ..... this bit of useless info might be of use to you ma'boy . My XMW feed at focus looking at my 'G' spot , which was determined by using the original CM feed and support arms was 123.1 cm, after doing some final tweaking on focus / best S/N figures yesterday before the snow came , my final distance was 125.5cm from white cap to 'G' position, nearly 2cm further back. Testing & adjustments was done over about 20 minutes .... first measurement, using Newsnet freq was 14.5 db @ 123.1 cm and final best position gave 15.7dB @ 125.5.
Iv'e still got to fill in all my measurements onto Rimants excellent CM profile drawing for him to compare so will do that now asap when weather permits.

... meant to say also, get your wellies on and get out there with a brush and remove that snow from the dish & lnb's , you want reporting to the authorities under the " cruelty to satellite equipment" law ;)

I'll have to measure mine.........;)

I will dear, I was in my night attire when I took the said photos

For Feedsat_DXer, untill i had a recent pc crash i had a satellite enthusiast's list from possibly one of the German boards that listed all the types of Ka frequencies and use found on various satellites across the arc, can you or any other person point me in the right direction again to download it.
Many thanks
