Ka project....

thanks @Llew , I just read the John's request.

PS: @John don't forget to check the satellitescommunity forum too, there are many interesting thing I think for satellites enthusiast and most of them in English (bad English :-buttkick ) .
I post most of my KA (and C/KU) reports, there.

Thanks also Feedsat, a great help both ;)

Getting very Hi Tech John Boy......

Getting very Hi Tech John Boy......

..... Strange thing is, it seems to work. As you know, with it being 3 mtrs or so off the ground and not very accessable , it really has to be like this. I have to say that in all of my 30 yrs of playing with satellite that this has been the most intensive, time consuming , expensive project i have ever done... (apart from my Home Cinema). I was going to call it a day after the ferocious gales of nearly two years ago that totally knacker'd my 2.2 and the top half of my home brew tilt over mount but i missed it after a while so decided to do the re-build but really enjoyed the trip doing it . BTW Chris, i think i'm in love with another one of the NewsNet girls lol

.... Rimants, got around to doing some comparison measurements on the CM 1.8 at long last. These are as accurate as i could get with being on my own. :)

was one of them that lass that was in the gray dress thing sat on our left of screen ?? or was it that slim one with glasses with her back to us ? .... think she had jeans on

Still can't get mine to work :-(

Chris matey, if i lived closer to you i would be there to give you a dig out no problem.

If you could invest in a S/H cheap signal meter with spectrum display you would find it invaluable. I would be totally lost without mine. Another thing i would consider is one of the XMW feeds from Feedsat's friend to put on the front of your Hughe's lnb, at least untill you can source another and then go back to the OMT. Feel free to use this thread to do some more fault finding between us all if you want, no problem.

Just as soon as I have some pocket money I will order one of those feeds, plus I am thinking of trying the lnb on a td 88 or similar, just to see.

Think you are right...........

I have swapped the omt (I have 2 of them) changed the polarity twice, moves the dish a few times, all other ka is working, it's just the hughesnet isn't.
So you can still get the ITN feeds then? just Newsnet not coming in? funny, because that usually is the strongest..

I mean all other bands of ka, the 21ghz/20ghz all fine, no 18ghz at all no single at all.

A crazy scan shows the lnb is giving out something. But not usable signal.

This is a scan in the middle of nowhere
