Hello to all.

I've not been very active lately so just wanted to say hello and I've not forgotten you all.:)

Work is keeping me very busy at present, and any free time I have has been devoted to my new hobby, Kayaking.

Its a great way of exploring the country side and getting a little exercise. I'd recommend anyone thinking of trying it out to go for it.

Some friends and I joined forces and bought some kayaks. We got a reasonable deal as a group. I bought myself one of these ......

I've have the angling mods/kit for it, so hope to get a little fishing in at some stage, I've not gotten around to it yet though.

Looks like lots of fun, not sure my knees and back could take it though.:) Beautiful scenery, where were th photos taken?

Rolfw, the photos were taken at three different locations in Northwest Donegal. I'm lucky that I have quite a few locations to choose from within a ten mile radius of my home. Some of which are ideal for learning the basics before tackling trickier water.

You mean like staying afloat and not capsizing :)
 
Ahh, no shortage of lakes in Donegal, keep promising my rel's over in the North to come over, so wouldn't be a long trip to the West coast, great for my photography hobby.:)

I'm sure you would find plenty of interesting places to shoot locally. I'm not too up on what feathered friends are in the area. . I've seen loads of Herons lately. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of a Golden Eagle. They were re-introduced (from Scotland) to the local national park in recent years and seem to be doing well in the area.

If your ever in the area, look me up and we'll test out your knees and back. :)
 
On Sunday I saw what would make a great photo for your collection Rolfw. As I approached the mouth of a river,a Heron raised its head at the foot of a waterfall with a small trout in its bill. A great site to see, and definitely a cod@k moment, but no camera available at the time unfortunately.

I didnt realize they were swimmers. It swam under water for 20 - 25 yards to get out of our way.
 
Yes, that would've been a cracking shot.:) Not seen one swim under water, but not surprised that they can.:)

Strangely enough, I was chatting to one of my customers who lives on the river Loddon (a tributary of the Thames) and he has a sit in Kayak, also a back problem like me, he chose the sit in, as it has a back rest. :)
