Does anyone have one they could loan out for a short while ?

Thanks in advance.

The Kindle i have just came with a micro usb cable with instructions to use a PC usb port to charge up from.

I have both old type white paper Kindle and Kindle Fire HDX and both use same cable.

Nano

Yes, it's the same new micro USB connector as used for mobile phones. My wife uses the same connector and charger for her phone and Kindle.

Yes but have you seen CH's phone, nothing micro on that :-bighappy

This one has a micro USB port as well as an external socket that I assumed was for power.

Now I'm on the scrounge for a micro cable.

ebay, a couple of quid.

The ones i have cost 99p with free postage
As were mine. In fact there was a buy two, get third one free offer on at the time.

Do you not have one from a digital camera or mobile phone as these use micro usb cables to charge.

It's only within the last four years or so that phones have standardised on the new micro USB socket. CH is highly unlikely to have anything as modern as that.

BTW, are you sure about cameras? My Canon SX280S, bought about a year ago and still a current model I think, uses the older micro USB connection

Looking further than just the charging port, it's actually a Kindle 3 (Model D00901) Keyboard version. I'll have a look around for a suitable charger.

Looking through the menus, it appears the Kindle has an experimental web browsing system as well. Once I get to a wi-fi area I'll have a look.

You surprise/amaze/disappoint me that you already have a suitable charger.

I suspect that the experimental aspect of the browser is the fact that it can only display in black and white and can't support animations. When I say black and white I mean just that, no grey scales.

And the original problem was a 'freezing' of the tablet for no apparent reason. When connecting it up via the PC to give it some charge, up came the 'Add new hardware' message with the legend 'SE Blank Ringo'

Turns out the wireless link has been left on at all times, which kills the battery rather quickly, and there is no emergency feature before it's too late.

Only keeping the Kindle on permanent charge will allow the usert to access the menus (and things only start happening some 20 minutes after connecting)

A link to the info.
