KPN takes a look at Belgian TV

Dutch incumbent operator KPN has expressed an interest in entering the Belgian market with its TV product, said CFO Marcel Smits. In The Netherlands the company owns the sole DTT license as well as an IPTV service. KPN will use the Tele2 infrastructure, which it acquired last year from Versatel/Tele2. The new venture would compete with Belgacom TV, Telenet and VOO. It is not known of KPN will also try and compete for the Flemish DTT license, for which a tender will be announced in the near future. In The Netherlands KPN is particularly successful with their DTT low pay service. Smits stressed no decision has yet been taken to enter the Belgian market with television, the company only expressed an interest.
