Thanks to CJ ..I have the opportunity to buy a used Lenson Heath dish 1.5 mtr wide (offset) ...but dont know much about these dishes ..
Good or bad ?
ANY info you guys can provide would be useful research before I commit ...
I dont even have a photo ...

Sadly no experience of Lenson Heath dishes VS...my only question is, where are you going to put it? Your back yard should be pretty full....

I Hope to sustitute for the 1.25 Gibby (Neil) on the H180 ...
I wont part with Neil ..but put him on the back burner so to speak.
A bit more gain hopefully for those ellusive ka transponders.

i had an 80cm solid in the analogue days and the closest today is the ISS although i guess a 1.5m would be more substantial. if i remember correctly they were swallowed up by triax years ago

Thats just the problem CH ..I dont have any pictures ..and it is apparently an offset not a PF

When the seller contacts me ..
He said possibly in the next couple of days ..
So ..I was hoping to find a pic to look at before I went..but I guess I'll just have to be patient.

I'll be taking a camera and a tape measure ..

The relector is made of Aluminium btw..that much I do know.

I assume he meant Fortec Star...

So not Lenson afterall ...
and not top of the range ..but he only wants £50 for it ..
Are these dishes good or bad ?

Offset 1.5m Fortec Star?! Never heard of that. I hope it's not the 1.8m fold-out camping dish that we all love (to hate) here...
 
Starting to feel a bit let down following the comments..
..I know they have a bad rep with the PF ...but having no experience of the offsets ...I'm in the dark performance wise.
I _think_ they made a 1.6 ?
 
I shouldn't get despondent >> It's the larger petalised F-S dishes that are renowned for flimsiness.

If the one being discussed is a single pressing, as the pic appears to confirm, I can't see a problem.
 
Yes... when Simon responded back to me, he said that the dish is 5 foot wide, which is just over 1.5m. This rules out the flimsy PF dish already, I think...

I guess I'll know more when I see it tomorrow..but Simon says ...errr pardon the pun ...the reflector is Ally ..and also that it's not very heavy ..which does suggest Ally.
We shall see.
