Hi

While trying to finalise the paperwork on my place in Spain, I was inadvertently stuck in Spain and now cannot get back. While I learn how to set up a motorised dish, I thought I´d also spend some time doing other things.
So I decided to play around in the kitchen and see what I could come up with. Spain has different rules and you are only allowed out for food shopping or to go to the docs or chemist. Not allowed to go too far from home to get the food, so some of those things we love cannot be easily obtained.
Tried to make a Yorkshire pudding to go with a roast. First attempt, no little multi oven dishes available, so went for one big one in a clay dish I have.
What are you all up to?

Lockdown here in France is very similar to Spain, we can only go out for food shopping (one person), to collect medicine or attend medical appointments or to take our household rubbish to our communal bin in the village. We are allowed to take exercise but not more than a kilometre from home. We have to take a form with us, detailing what we are doing and the time we left home, plus a form of identity.

My own culinary efforts have stretched to a wild garlic risotto, which turned out a little different as SWMBO picked up some risotto rice with squid ink (it was quite salty) and more successfully, an apple pie....I'll let you guess which is which

I'll see your fresh toad and raise you frozen frogs legs...

When I was doing my RN Officer Training on HMS Intrepid, we visited Charleston, S.Carolina.

One of my chums hired a Pontiac Firebird and one evening we ventured deep into the countryside and ate at a shack where Frogs' Legs were on the menu.

Mr.Naive here ordered them. I say them - It was a single leg.

It was as big as a Chicken Leg, and came from a Giant American Bullfrog.

I did not much like it!

The 'cuisse de grenouille' we used to get from Lidl (other supermarkets are available) were quite small and not really very tasty. We always wondered what happened to the rest of the frog..

Fresh Toads are as rare as Rocking-Horse poo in UK Supermarkets right now.

Not around here, I bagged a couple of packets a fortnight ago and would have frozen both but I had parsnips and some other veg to use up.

Man cannot live on Yorkshire pudding alone, although some would argue!
Unlike UK takeaways are not open here, well a few are apparently if they do home delivery. Anyway, I don´t know any round here at the moment.
The other day in a local supermarket I found Patak´s concentrated paste in a jar. Instructions in Spanish, but can be deciphered.
My take on a chicken tikka masala.

PS, Sonnetpete , think I prefer the apple pie

Has anyone ever tried to cook up a brawn from a pigs head (Pâté de tête)? I had a go a few years ago and it was tasty enough but the jelly was on the runny side rather than set firm.
