I was wondering what is the largest dish I can get which including lnb mount weighs <20kg.
Does anyone in the UK sell the large mesh prime focus dishes that you sometimes see.
I have had a look at the polar mount for satellite dishes and as far as I can tell they all seem to be preprogrammed for satellites. My aim is to recieve astronomical signals so I dont really require this feature. Is there any satellite mounts you know of that give you an right ascension and declination reading rather than just pointing at known satellites. Also it would need to be motorised on both axes. Do these systems let you program your own satellites in so i could add astronomical targets to the database rather than the pre programmed satellites.
I know astro mounts like the one above can track with arcsecond acuracy with optical telescopes. The downside is they cost quite alot £500 for the one above. For my application in radio waves tracking to rougly 20-40arcmin would be fine.

Hello!

out of production, since 10 years, weight only around 2 or 3 kg ,without mount!
,i have one here, but, the transport to uk,would be proberbly to expensice...!
There is a nice black faval 1.2/1.3m on ebay at the moment for a pretty reasonable price. says it weighs 9kg which is pretty much exactly what weight im looking for. If the rig is below 10kilos then I can get away with using a cheaper mounting maybe
