Living gets new 'Lipstick' for 2008

Virgin Media TV channel Living has unveiled three key new US acquisitions for 2008.

The line-up includes NBC comedy drama Lipstick Jungle, written by s_x And The City author Candace Bushnell, which stars Brooke Shields as one of three powerful New York career women - including a TV boss, designer and editor - who are willing to do almost anything for success in the business world. Living's deal includes the first two seasons which will air in late 2008.

Next spring, Living will air Army Wives from Disney ABC International Television, which follows army wives and husbands of those at war. The show, which is based on the non-fiction book Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Military Marriage by Tanya Biank, was US network Lifetime’s highest rating series in its 23-year history - with the finale reaching 4.1 million viewers.

Melanie Griffiths and Hugh Jackman will appear in musical drama Viva Laughlin, which is based on the BBC Three show Viva Blackpool. It follows a small-time casino owner who dreams of opening up a casino desert resort on the Laughlin Strip, Nevada.

Living director of programmes Claudia Rosencrantz said: "Alongside our hugely successful established brands, people can expect the unexpected from a smorgasbord of truly excellent acquired and newly commissioned programmes this season."

Series four of Australian comedy Kath & Kim will air on Living this autumn, with guest appearances from Australian cricketer Shane Warne and comedian Matt Lucas.

Living's big homegrown winter show piece is talent search Dirty Dancing: The Time of Your Life, with actress Jennifer Ellison, choreographer Sean Cheeseman and co-choreographer Miranda Garrison - who also played Vivian in the original film - as judges in the search to find the next Johnny and Baby.

Other commissioned shows on the channel for autumn and winter include flatmate search Living with Kimberly Stewart, love search reality show Dirty Cows with Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, and Yvette Fielding and the Most Haunted team with a five day Halloween special.
