When I purchased my Inverto Black Eco LNBs, they came with a rubber tube cover for the f-connector port, are these just simply to protect this during transport? or are they meant to be on all the time as there seems no way for this to happen when in active use.

Some are just dust caps, others are to be used as a weather boot, a photo would be nice.

The vast majority of such caps are merely for protection during transport as, apart from being "blind", they are not long enough to be fitted over the F-connector on the cable and still cover the exposed threads on the connector on the LNB itself.

However, you can buy various types of F-connector boots which are designed for that purpose (such as these), but be aware that not all of them will actually fit "all" the various types of F-connector, and moisture can thus still seep in.

Personally, I've become a bit of a fan of this this sort of stuff from Plasticote as you just tighten the connector on the cable on that on the LNB, and then spray this stuff over it - also get's right into the spaces between LNB's on twin/quad etc., LNBs and DiSEqC switches, and it is easy to remove when needed.
BTW: I also have some similar "brush-on" stuff but found that far less easy to ensure that everything well-sealed.

Other than the Sky dish LNB, which has been up for nearly two decades, I've never bothered with any extra rain protection (other than the integrated pull down type) on offset dishes and have never had any issues with water ingress . There are F-connectors available with a rubber gasket but they are a pain to tighten up with your fingers.

The newish Inverto PLL LNBs have a plastic clip on cover that appear to be a great way to funnel water from the side of the LNB onto the top of the F-connector.

I just use a dab of coax rated dielectric grease inside the connector(s), it keeps things nice and dry and also protects the connector from internal corrosion.

When I installed my dish I use the following it’s got 2 rubber seals one at the top and another one at the bottom.
I agree with ozumo it’s hard to tight it with fingers I used small plier to tight it on wf100.
it’s impossible for moisture to go through unless buy cheap one. It costed me 52p each.

Ref tightening F-connectors - depending on the specific connector in question, you really need either an 11mm or a 7/16th" AF open-ended spanner, and it often pays to grind the exterior sides of such spanners down flat so as to make it easier to tighten connectors in close proximity (e.g. on a quad LNB or a multiway DiSEqC switch).

Bought something very similar but didn't "get on" with it at all - too long and awkward to use in many circumstances, and difficult to use in confined areas (e.g the 16 closely spaced F-connectors on an EMP-Centauri DiSEqC switch). Tried to mod it, failed -> Binned!

One of the manufacturers of outdoor diplexers/triplexers used to include a long hexagonal socket that had one of the sides missing. Worked very well even when perched up a ladder.

Probably like this one that I use. It provides extra purchase when just using your fingers and if it's extra tough then you can use an ordinary open-ended spanner from the side.

I got one from Ebay ages ago and they work a treat.

Hi Channel Hopper, I'm looking for rubber boots like the grey one in your second image, I have searched using the term grey rubber boots but I just get the ones you wear on feet. :D Are they referred to by a specific name do you know?

No idea where one might source them in the UK.

Think those ones come with Antiference masthead productcs, the Aluminium ones which also come free ar better, but I find need some filing at the top to enable them to fit between more bulky compression connectors.

Got one of those, very good, but found it to be a little too large and converted to more compact solutions.
