Hi there sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum I have just got back in to motorised satellite tv again.My problem is when my system was working it just suddenly stopped working so I put it down to an LNB fault,daft question does the dish motor relie on the LNB to work the motor or is the motor controled by the sat box,i'm running a 80cm dish TM2300 motor & TM5400 Super.Also I think my dish has been knocked by the roofers as well when we had the roof done recently but that is not a problem at the moment all i need is an answer for the above before I go to plan B.Thankyou for any help on this,regards paul

The motor is controlled by the receiver - the lnb just collects the signals reflected off the dish

Yes, an LNB is not even required to be present at all for the motor to work.
However, a faulty LNB possibly could affect motor operation if it was shorted for example. So to test, remove the LNB cable.

hello ,
i would measure the dc voltage at the lnb cable.
it should be 14 v to 18 v dc.of it is 0 volts then there is a problem with the cable.
check the conector on the lnb and the one in the back of the box as well.
bad contact will keep the lnb from working even though the dish motor will still move the dish.
they are both seperate.

hi thanks guys i've done a few tests but its got dark now i can't even get the dish to move buy using the manual function move or fine move the dish will just not move at all.Both ends of the cable seem ok i'm just hoping its not the box or motor

ok just been outside as its dark and I can't see the green light on the bottom of the motor,then again it could been grunged up and covering the light
