Looking for a quality 3' x 2" patio/ground mount

My Satellite Setup
Fibo 90cm/55cm, Inverto Black Pro/White Tech, Moteck SG-2100A, Dreamboxes DM7020/DM600/DM800HD
My Location
Zürich/London
I will be mounting directly onto a thick paving slab on a 5th floor balcony. The ones I have come across are pictured below and prices include delivery:

1. £27
2. £40
3. £31

The last one looks to be strongest to me. Is there anything else I should be considering?

Ah, yes. That would be a Fibo 55cm, so a bit smaller than the one in your avatar. ;)

I think the second one looks strongest, thicker material and its only 9 quid dearer.

The base plate on the third is 12" square compared to 10" on the other two. It's a bit difficult just comparing the images as they aren't the best.

It would be good to hear from anyone who has experience with any of these.

... yeah.. we ad to use 2 ov em on that job...



I prefer stronger mounts anyway so I'd just say get the stronger 2 or 3.... OK if you ever up the dish size too.
 
I have one like your No.1 supporting a Triax TD110 in a sheltered site.

It is perfectly stable even in severe gales.

Furthermore, the Dish is mounted on my spare Motor (a Fortec Turner, which is not the most robust of beasts) and is potentially overloaded, yet serves me well.

As I recall, it is a Blakes - but it is currently *issing down outside so I'll leave the measurements until later.

Just off to collect a new Telly, so it'll be this afternoon before I can give you chapter and verse (and, if you are really good, a piccy maybe).

All I do know is it took me several hours to drill through the concrete slab and to c/s the holes underneath to accommodate the nuts. Talk about vibration white finger.

Is the paving slab fixed/cemented in if so the nub of good fixing is the bolts i would suggest "thunder bolts" these screw directly into concrete/brick, always use drill 1mm smaller than thunder screw diameter.

No, the slab won't be fixed to the balcony floor in any way.

Thanks for the tip re "thunder bolts", but I was thinking of just drilling through the slab and using traditional bolts to fix the mount.
 
For a 55 cm on a 5th floor balcony, any of the stands will be OK if you don't plan to go bigger in the future. The Blakes (1#) is the thinner but they are well made from uniform steel and good galvanising although they don't go overboard in over strengthening- more to a set standard.

If it's on a loose slab you can just bolt through - instantly far stronger and add weight like a large plant pot or two on the base.

Ah, so I don't nee to go a-measuring now!

Just as well - I spent all afternoon and evening yesterday playing with my new Telly :)
