My Satellite Setup
60cm dish pointing towards astra 28.2e satellite looking for satlink meter setting for dish angle,mhz settings range and lnb angle

Verwood Dorset
I live in Dorset and I'm having trouble to locate astra 28.2e satellite I'm using a satlink ws6936 meter and would like to know what setting to put in the meter ie dish angle, lnb angle, No in the setting for the range in MHZ transponder settings polarity H or V and frequency, every time I try the meter says done but the tv says no channels for freesat
 
What dish and LNB are you using? If it's from a previous Sky Q installation (and you arent using a Freesat 4K receiver) the LNB will need to be changed for a Sky mk4 universal LNB.

The WS6936 does not support DVB-S2 so you have to use a DVB-S transponder such as:
Frequency: 11224MHz
Polarity: H
Symbol Rate: 27500

Once you input your longitude and latitude it should show the dish azimuth and elevation angles for the selected satellite but they are just for reference and don't affect the received signal. It is also possible you are pointing at the wrong satellite if the meter shows signal but no channels scan in on the TV.

The dish and lnb were fitted for free view and the lnb is a quad for free view

Have you previously been able to view Freesat channels with this installation? Does the dish have clear view of the sky?
 
Yes have been using the dish to watch free view,i run a cable for a second tv in the bedroom and knocked the dish whyle fixing the cable to the satellite

Here is a list of all available DVB-S transponders of Astra 2. Use it to update your meter.
Note that 11612 H is empty now (no services) and probably will be switched off in the near future.

Thank you for your help will try these,but i dont know how to store these in my meter
 
@Dixee , I don't know your knowledge of satellite technology, so I'll explain some basics.
The satellite transmits digital signals called transponders. You now have a list of transponders that this meter can handle.
Each transponder carries multiple channels, also called programs or services.
To receive a transponder your meter needs a set of parameters: frequency, polarity (H/V) and Symbol Rate.
By now you will know the meaning of 11224 H 27500, it is in the first line of the list.

Start by reading the manual, select [Tp Manager] and try to edit the transponder list of Astra 2 . I would delete all transponders that are not on my list. Then try to edit one and save it. Try to add more transponders to the list.

You may have to do a scan/channel preset store on friends working sky dish on the meter .. (It will have to be the older lnb type non SkyQ)

Then this will allow you to align your setup. :)

To do a scan you need an updated transponder list first. These older analysers don't do a blindscan.
It is also unknown to me what a TP list with 80% or so DVB-S2 entries will mean for the scan speed, as the device don't know S2.
You better get rid of them.
For sat finding you only need 1 valid transponder in "Quick Search".
 
1st step in any satfinding\dish adjustment, am always using a simple little meter (the compass if needed), fast success everytime. No manuals, no setup, no updates etc :O) Recommending one with an analog (needle) meter, not lcd for levels. And those leds are useful, showing that one is properly wired to a working receiver at the other end.

It's all that's needed for "99% perfect" dish pointing when dealing with strong sats (being within the intended coverage area\country), like 28e inside uk, 19e inside europe etc.

I totally agree.
But the TS is not looking for A satellite but for Astra 2.
If he manages to get at least 1 valid transponder in the "Quick Search" menu, he gets the same measurement as your analogue meter, on the "S" bar. These SatLinks have the same response time as an analogue meter, but the advantage to give a lock if you found the correct satellite.

I find this website and its diagrams very useful as a guide. Just make sure your lat/lon is relatively ok (I put Portsmouth as mildly close to "Dorset").
