Hello,

Does anyone own the following CD-ROM:

"EP 2500 - EP 2300"
USB Driver
Remote Control Software
Manual
Catalogue

I purchased a second hand Unaohm EP 2500, but the included CD cover was missing the actual CD-ROM... :(

Thanks,
Vitor

WOW!!! Thanks a lot! How do you keep finding these? I spend almost two hours yesterday on Webarchive and didn't find anything.

:)

Meanwhile I found an alternative open source driver for the USB connection and it even works with Windows 10 64 Bit! Not a signed driver, of course, but that's OK.

I am not indeed looking for firmware files to see if I can understand the RS232 protocol and figure out if a firmware file only features one language. My device only works in German...

Update: The linked firmware file is in German language, also! The one I have installed is W3.2, so it is newer than this one. Still an excellent find!

Regards,
Vitor

You asked for software, I did not expect retrospective pedantry.

Dear Channelhopper,

I would again thank you very much for your kind help. It amazes me how you find these files! I spend two hours today and had no luck and now you come up with FW 4.0! Incredible!

"You asked for software, I did not expect retrospective pedantry."

I hope you did not think I was in any way critizing your great finding - I just wanted to share that the Unaohm EP2500 only supports ONE language in the installed firmware and that even the so far only firmware file was in German, too. This should be considered if any non-german speaking person is considering purchasing an Unaohm EP2500 from Ebay.

Sorry, if you understood it in another way.

Also, I was disappointed that the internet archive stored the download page with all links, but none worked except the single firmware file.

Again thank you very much and thumbs up for you talent in finding these files.

Regards,
Vitor

If you search like this, you can see al files right away - just a note for people looking for old files:

Wayback Machine

Update:

I found the Uploader software, but it seems that Unaohm doesn't want the end user to upgrade the firmware. This process requires a password key, which I assume is calculated through the serial number. I am not sure if this is done by the firmware or the uploader software, but I suspect it is the latter. Of course this password key was not given to me (I asked, though - let's see if the previous owner has it and can supply it to me - that would be great).

I just ordered a PLCC32 adapter from Ebay (China - 3-4 weeks until it arrives), as the firmware seems to be stored on a M29F404B eeprom/flash. Hopefully I can extract the existing firmware and replace it with the newest 4.0 release. Thinking of this, I better order an extra M29F404B, just in case...

Vitor

Hello,

I have found all required files:

- Manual in ITA, ESP, ENG
- Description of all supported RS232 commands
- Firmware files: v2.2, v3.2, v3.2.1, v4.0
- USB driver (official) + USB driver Open Source, compatible with Windows 10 64bit (unsigned)
- Remote Software for EP 2500 (RSWEPRB)
- Uploader for firmware upgrade (requires key code based on serial number of the field meter - which I don't have)
- Datasheets of some electronic components

If anyone needs one of these files, feel free to contact me.

Regards,
Vitor

:)

Let me thank you again for your valuable help!

Meanwhile I learned how to use web.archive.org and successfully found many other interesting files. Unfortunatly, often the web saves they have are incomplete.

I know your model well and bid quite a few times on eBay for such a beast, but never had any success (looking at your video, I now realize how big the device is - perhaps I was rather lucky for not having won any of the auctions). My main interest would have been the frequency TV-SAT upconverter on the top of the device.

Nice review! I see you have a whole channel with cool videos! Gona take a look of the next days.

Vitor

Hi, could i have these file ? Do you have also the uploader software ? Many thanks in advance. Best Regards.

Yes, I can share the files with you - send me a PM.

While I do have the Uploader, it will not do anything for you in terms of Firmware Upgrade, because the Uploader requires a code matching your meter's serial number, before it upgrades.

What I did was this:
- bought compatible EEPROM
- extracted the actual FW from the file (not sure how/what I did back then)
- flashed the EEPROM
- replaced the original EEPROM with this one

Hi, thanks for your answer. Sorry for my stupid question, how can I send you a PM ?, I can't see any button for a private message on the forum board.

PMs are called "Conversations" in this software and are accessed in several ways, not least via a Mail Icon top right.

However, for security reasons, we do not enable them for new Members until they have a solid Posting record. Can't be sure , but maybe 10 or 15 relevant Posts.
