Hi guys,

I'm currently using a Vu+ Zero receiver which I can't fault, though as its a very basic model has limitations. The one major thing that its missing is blindscan (which I never realised how much I'd miss when I bought it).

The Vu+ Zero does allow me to stream 4:2:2 feeds and normal broadcast channels over the network via Openwebif which is a fantastic feature that I use on a regular basis. Annoyingly though, anything thats 30Mbps and over can't cope over my network (even over LAN) and I suffer with dropouts. This is to do with my router only supporting up to 100Mbps ethernet. (Sky do not allow third party routers so im stuck with this for now).

I'm looking at upgrading the receiver and currently trying to find options. The things I'd like it to have are:

1) Blindscan function
2) Ability to stream channels over the network
3) Support of 16APSK feeds (?) - not a requirement but would be nice
3) Sensitive tuner

Wanting to spend up to £150 although can stretch my budget depending on features :)

Can't you plug a gigabit switch into the router and connect everything else to that?

With that budget and what you want the answer in nones.

With blind search in VU + you have DUO2, Solo2, SoloSExx.
From the Openwebif theme.
You need receiver and HUB of 1000Mbs (1Gbs), you can manage up to 100Mbs, with the network you have.
With a network of 100Mbs you can only use 10Mbs which are normal channels (SD / HD) of medium quality.
In 4:2:2 if the bitrate is low, some reach 28Mbs (Goya Awards for example).
Because of the issue of the 1Gbs network, only DU2, the solo2 has worse tuners.
One more joke, using Openwebif with a powerful PC (> i5), a good video card, you could see 4K (UHD), but a receiver is cheaper.
In other brands cheaper, but similar problems.
The octagonSF4008 is not having no blind channel search.

I wish I can help you but I haven't seen any satellite receiver specification that stresses it has blindscan feature.
Perhaps members who do have receivers with this feature (from experience) can make a list in this thread.
If you are going to upgrade, wouldn't 4K be something that you would like to have?

I think I missed one major point - in order to stream high bitrate feeds smoothly, I guess the box will need a gigabit LAN port or else it will be restricted to only 100Mbps, despite my router having gigabit ports?
