Hi guys,

Right on time before the second Match of the Day of the season I have probs with Astra 2...grrr.

Have three LNBs (Astra 1, Astra 2 and Hotbird) behind a Disecq switch. Last week I turned the receiver on and had no reception (0% signal quality) on Astra 2. The other two receptions are normally absolutely fine, but the weird thing is that after I have turned onto an Astra 2 channel the other two receptions are also off with 0% signal quality when I switch over. After some faffing around I turned the LNB Power off and back on in the receiver menu, which got me Astra 1 and Hotbird back, but Astra 2 remains black.

However, to further complicate matters, sometimes I turn on Astra 2 and it works perfectly with 90% signal strength! Not only that sometimes I am watching Astra 2, turn over to an Astra 1 channel and when I turn back the signal is gone again. Also, sometimes if I leave Astra 2 on it springs into life after an arbitrary time period.

Any ideas?
Cheers
Mark

Hi, check coax connections to and from the DiSEqC switch and the switch itself. Failing that, look at the receiver :)

Could be the receiver, the cable run, the DiseqC switch, or even one or more of the LNBs unfortunately. I presume that everything was previously working OK?

Hi, thanks for the ideas...
Yes, was all working fine previously...also not after any untoward weather, storms or anything like that (although saying that, it did start playing up during a spell of extremely hot weather).
Will have to hope it leaps back into action tonight, will have a look on the roof in daylight.

Hello again chaps...I went up onto the roof today and did a really professional inspection job (i.e I wiggled the connections and made sure they were tight whilst scratching my balls with the other hand). When I came back down I switched on Astra and it worked, and it still works now.

So, fine...but I hope it doesnt conk out again!

PS. A certain feed not working, OK...but has anyone heard of one LNB making the others not work? That was the thing that puzzled me most.
