First of all, I would like to say I am happy to join this wonderful and well organized site. ( I've been searching for a long time).
I have experienced some problems in my channels signals since last Sunday (28.11.11). We normally watch TV3 Cat, TV Record, ETB, BBC World News, etc.. however, we lost all signals from those channels and many more and we have only the Germans ones which works perfectly without any problems. I did a new scan for new channels but still have no receptions or signals for those that I mentioned. My dish is a Fortec Star Passion Plus HD and having only Astra 19.2 east reception.
Could anybody help me in this matter?
Many Thanks,
Tio_Gibi

Until you tell us more about your dish/LNB and any Monoblocks, multi-LNB arms, Motors or Actuators, we can only guess what the problem is!

The channels are still there so its a problem at your end. I keep an eye on ETB as I like watching the pelota :)

Most likely reason is your dish has moved slightly in the gales in recent days. It may only have moved a couple of mm but thats enough to knock out any marginal frequencies.

Another possibility is water in the cabling between the dish and the receiver.

You will need to do some basic trouble shooting. If you can SAFELY get to the dish you might be able to see where its moved, but if its high up and you arent certain of doing it get an installer in - spending a few quid is far preferable to falling off a ladder!

Depending where you are you might find one of our members can help you if you need a professional - our lads (many of whom staff here) cover much of the country between them

Thanks, I forgot to mention, is a Monoblock , one LNB pointed to 19.2 east only. Fortec Star Passion plus HD dish.

I suspected as much.

Possible reasons:

1. As AS said, slight movement of dish itself

2. Faulty Monoblock

3. Error in DiSEqC Port allocation (but maybe not likely as you are getting some Astra 1 Channels): Port A should be assigned to Hotbird and Port B to Astra 1.

4. Error in LNB setup other then DiSEqC eg not having Universal, Universal 1 or Universal 9750/10600 selected.

Is the dish itself aligned to Hotbird or to Astra? If Hotbird, then (looking from Monoblock towards Dish) the right hand head should be in the collar. If Astra, then the left hand head should be in the collar.

Thanks for your reply . I gess the problem is that we had a strong wind Sunday and Monday. I suppose I have to go up and have a look. It is safe for me to go up as my dish is not in the roof. Many thanks and I will see if I can sort this. Cheers

Thanks I will have a look and If I have any problems I will get back to you. Cheers

Beszt of luck & let us know how you get on. Dont foget its also possible the dish had moved fore/aft as well as left/right, so work methodically - you can often see from scratches on the poles of the dish has indeed moved or a bolt has loosened off.

Whilst you are up there make sure the cabling is sound - there is waterproofing tape round the locknut where the cable joins the lnb, and theat there are no splits / chafes in the cable where rain has got in.
