Thx for the replies.

Looks like they are no longer available. If any pop up in future and a group buy is being contemplated I will have one.

Just keep plugging away in your searches. Don't define your search terms too narrowly - it took me weeks to find mine; using just 'Hughes LNB' found mine eventually.

We have a lot over here in the states used in rural Internet but slow speeds make it bad and high prices. I see them here in Indiana quite a bit.

Hi Dan,
The 9200 units with the white 18GHz lnb's are very useful to us over here in the UK & Europe , just the rx lnb_ not the tx turtle. As VS stated before, the removal of the tx before shipping, leaving the white lnb / omt / feed just to ship would be ideal. I know that we would be most grateful if you could keep an eye open for any that surface or even small bulk lots and let us know.
Regards.

I see what I can find around here what would be the best way to ship something overseas?

Thanks for that Dan, as regards shipping ....... if the need arises we will have to look into that more closely . The one method to steer clear of is the "Global Shipping Program" that is used by a certain large web sales / auction site as although it seems to be flawless in the US, once it hits UK handlers it's a totally different story with many disgruntled customers having items go "Lost" as the companies involved often state.

Thanks again Dan.

When I checked with usps they wanted over 100 bucks for just one directv ka ku lnb to be shipped not including cost in other countries. They said its not worth it might just send me over to the UK with parts.

OK for Ka Band B only. Not a Band A LNB unfortunately, which is what we're looking for.

Would anyone know what the Ka Band B performance of the HughesNet unit is like compared to other typical Ka Band B options being used by forum members?

Could anyone please advise me if the Feed/OMT unit could be harvested from a HughesNet B unit to be used with a pair of Norsat LNB's to cobble up a dual polarity H and V unit?

Thx

The answer I believe is yes ..
The hughes B/C omt is the same one used on the sought after band A hughes units ..therefore the feed can also be used ..though these feeds may not be a perfect match for the chunk of spectrum ..
should..be close enough..but be aware the hughes B/C feed is really for an specific elongated dish ..so may not give perfect illumination .
nonetheless they do work.

VS,

Thank you for your reply

I did not realise that the feeds were matched so precisely to the sub bands. I thought that if the feed/OMT was OK for Ka Band A then it would be OK for Ka Band B, C and D and the reverse. It seems that for good Ka Band reception you need to be using fairly specific Feed/OMT combinations at the sub band level

I know that Elite Antennas manufacture a series of Ka band dishes to a more demanding tolerance that their C/Ku band dishes. I think they even use flat rivets to secure the rear mounting ring to the reflector to get the parabolic reflector face shape without raised rivet heads. I am not sure if it is a marketing ploy as the Ka Band antennas are more expensive than the equivalent C/Ku band antennas?

In truth MB ....the basic Ka feeds are much of a muchness ...but one would assume that Hughesnet have aimed their feeds at specific dishes both to maximise illumination and perhaps a better response in the Ka ranged aimed at ...
However ..that said as far as I can tell without cracking one open the OMT is the same one used in Ka A B C ...thus you can mechanically at least fit any of the Hughesnet feeds ...
Hope that makes sense..

VS,

Yes, I follow the logic about using the same OMT with any of the HughesNet feeds.

If I am following this correctly, the useful thing about the HughesNet OMT on those turtles is that after harvesting it from the turtle it can accept a pair of LNB's therefore allowing both H and V on the one unit. I have one of those XMW FD.... Ka feeds and also one of "Trusts" Ka feeds. It might be interesting to see what signal reception can be achieved by using a pair of Norsat LNB's on the HugheNet OMT fitted with a "Trust" feed or the XMW FD.... feed?

Good luck MB ...BUT ..a word of warning ...there isn't enough clearance to fit 2 x Norsat lnbs side by side ...which is another reason the Hughes lnbs are sought after ..
The Hughes are physically smaller and have a smaller footprint ...
Therefore in an ideal world you need 2x Hughes lnbs 1 for H and 1 for V fitted on the OMT ..
It is however possible to fit 1 x Hughes and 1 x Norsat ...
This is the arrangement I have ..
...but 2 x Norsat is physically not doable.

@ MB , if you just want to letch... sorry meant_ observe_ the 18Ghz signals for the Newsnet Ladies on the vertical channels & seeing that probably 99% of the time we seem to stick to just the verticals for the different regional downlinks as well , your cheapest option would be to go with one lnb onto the XMW feed that you have and run as vertical. You could get lucky and secure a cheap Hughes white lnb if your patient enough but there are loads of people after them so you might have to go the expensive route of a new Norsat / XMW / new or second hand etc.
Ka band-D can be interesting having three sats to look at of any interest to us ... 16 , 7 & 4.9 east and use the Inverto Ka/Ku lnb.
Good luck with your search ;)

A postman delivered new toys today....

2016-05-11 12.59.51.jpg

Unfortunately, I don't have the OMT or the feedhorn. Does it have to be specifically from 9200 package or can I use one like this - HughesNet Horn LNB FSS 19.7-20.2GHz 1500825-0005 1500658-0002 1500914 Hughes Net The seller that sold this to me (jeneanenjohn on eBay) has very bad communications skills and it took forever to get replies to my messages. He apparently has 6 more of these, so, if you can get hold of him, you should be able to get it.

He does also have the OMT and the feedhorn but... it's a pain communicating with him. So....

Of course, if you have a suitable feedhorn/OMT - let me know!
