Lousy resolution on Sky Movies

After checking why Sky always got such grainy and dull picture compared to the other channel packages i decided to compare the resolution.

The Sky Movie channels are transmitting at 544x756 resolution, i have not find any other channel packages that transmits with this low resolution except the former Eastern countries channels.

To compare with Sky Italia is like night and day, they transmit their channels in 720x576 which is full PAL resolution.

If you really want to compare i found that on Hispasat the Hollywood channel are transmitting in two formats, one lower resolution at 504x576 and a higher resolution at 704x576.

It's like day and night, jump between these two and you will see a major difference.

So why is Sky being cheap and transmit their movie channels like this?

Yes it costs to rent bandwidth on the transponder and they want to squeeze as many as then can on a tight space, but considering Sky is taking premium for watching their channels i think they really screw the customers.

SKY's policy has always been screwing their customers...

If you want better resolution on movies you go for HD transmissions (SKY Movies 9/10)...but guess what? if you want HD you have to cough up £10 regardless which package you subscribe..
For example....you subscribe to Family Package (entertaintment mix) If you want HD channels on this package which are Nat Geo/Discovery/History/Arts World you have to pay £10...Same for SKY Sports World or SKY Movies World packages..they make you pay £10 for the whole of HD transmissions..Unless you Subscribe to SKY World package you do not get your £10's worth...They are trying to force everyone to upgrade to their top package..:-lang
 
I think Iceman has said it all.
I have always believed that Murdoch's policy is to squeeze as much money out of us as is humanly possible.
This is the main reason I refuse to contribute to the S*y cash machine and am happy to stay with my FTA stations.
(More than enough channels for me)
