Low on the horizon satellites

Can members please enlighten me on the subject matter.
Ku dishes normally have a built in offset of 21 degrees,now with a satellite at an elevation of say 10 degrees does the elevation becomes -11 degrees?Does it mean that the satellite can not be viewed?
I understand that to counter that the dish can be mounted upside down.Comments will be appreciated.

While it is true for the example given that the Dish face will be leaning forward by 11 degrees, it is still "looking" at the hypothetical Satellite at 10 degrees Elevation and the Offset is not the reason you cannot see low angle Satellites.


The real reason is simply basic horizon stuff caused by the curvature of the earth. Nothing more complex than that.


People do mount Dishes upside down - but that cannot overcome horizon issues and is done just to assist with mechanical installation in some circumstances.
