Son's wife rang today and had seen , 1.9m (1.8m) for sale €110.

Anyway foto sent to me was:-
IMG-20150224-WA0000.jpg

Went tonight and the actual dish face is in superb condition ....stand ok too.

Mount nuts and bolts some are rusted but at €110 no complaints.....collection arranged for tomorrow.

More to do than the other https://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/threads/c-band-beginner.161913/page-2

but looking forward to this added project.

Think this one may be Marrafa as has top inclination/declination adjustment.

Bit frightened to mention INOX here as peeps seem to go into an orgasmic state at the mention of the same be it A2 or A4........but seriously, what spray etc do you recommend to assist the removal of the corroded nut/bolt situation on this dish.

Best wishes all and thank you. :)

Congratulations @lovelyperson ! To remove old nuts&bolts sometimes is better just to use angle grinder.
Show more pictures when you can.

Nice catch Lp, ;)

Whatever you've got, WD40, 3 in 1 oil, duck oil or just plain old diesel (especially if they can be left to soak for a period of time)!

If the nuts are the ones that fix the stand to the roof, you can make a wall around each nut with kids plasticine or putty and pour some diesel in to cover the nuts,(like a small paddling pool for each nut) leave them as long as possible, then try to free them off! :)

Forgot to mention that when I asked the people why they were selling the dish their response was ''we are going over to the 'BETTER' IPTV system ''

Read:- Huevos comment 'Right now I'd say about 30% of my installs are for people who are fed up with their IPTV install.'
in thread https://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/threads/best-receivers-for-fringe-reception.161825/page-6

I now feel extra lucky with this buy.!! :-applause

It seems odd they would go from a "working" setup to a new one.
Maybe they got scared into thinking Astra 2G would make things worse and to get out while they can(as they might think)?

Yep.....took my laptop and TBS5925, connected the coax and scanned. All transponers came in (28.2ºE) and showing a good .db for each.

So can only imagine they perhaps want more than just the BBC, ITV etc ¿perhaps films! ?

No complaints here from me. :D

Curious about why it should be advertised as a 1.9m/1.8m when it's a prime focus dish. Is it 1.9m across to the very edge of the rolled lip?

Some times I also use plain brown Vinegar, just let nuts, bolts soak in it for about 4 - 5days and it seems to do the trick, sort of 'eats' away the rust.

Yes, Vinegar is largely constituted of Acetic Acid and has a great many uses.

Some people put it on Chips, apparently.

Quickest and easiest method to remove rusted nuts is to use a "nut splitter" such as these http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p80...=46335353543&gclid=CI3s1aWNgMQCFYgKwwodvpkA0w . Then the only problem may be removing the bolts but this method does not further damage the bolt thread and can often be reused.

Several comments on various threads....in this area some shops/sites sell as 1.9m others as 1.8m.

¿BP and Huevos will know the definitive answer but I think that in the end they are in fact 1.8m on face and including rim 1.9m on both Famaval and Marrafa?

I state both sizes as: 1.9m (1.8m) which hopefully negates the need to question which size it is......¿wonder if there is in fact a 1.9m face made?

Enjoy your weekend. :)

Well the WD40 worked and managed to remove the LNB and arms safely.
All the other nuts/bolts were easy to loosen so rapid progress.

As the dish was located on a terrace some 8m up and too large to be taken down throgh the house it meant lowering it by rope to ground level. With the back plate still attached to the dish face it was easy to fix the rope to the back ring and with the dish face outwards in case of contact with the wall....no problems.

The two Spanish friends that helped me with this are to be thanked and again for their transporting of the dish and stand to home. :-applause

The two lads and wives have come down from the north and are staying with us for a week so probably won't touch the dish next week.

And a Vauxhall in Spain? Shouldn't that be an Opel?

Neither CJ, I am over double their age.....but better looking ***!!! These are the two friends that have come down with their families for a stay with us.
The Vauxhall was actually sold to the 2 lads by an english guy I also rent property to and he had decided to move to the Alicante region due to the more friendlier all year climate here.

All nice people.

Enjoy your weekend. :)

Yep, we are so lucky in this area....lived here some 22 years and has always been the same.

Today, moving that dish was enjoyable and the weather allows us basically to lead an all year round outside life. At home recorded some 24.9ºC on the terrace and at the mo outside temp shows 16.2ºC.

The Spanish have, what I think, is a great line...... 'its always sunny here, some days it is just a question of when!'

Simple life that allows me to do what I want and when I want.
The weather suits our hobby. .....it aint all about money.

Hope you enjoy your weekend. :)

If the dish is now the secondary system in place then I can see why it was put up for sale (clearing the balcony/spring cleaning etc).
The seller will soon bite your hand off when the IPTV system fails through the multiple links required to put a picture on their screen though.

Bit more done, washed dish face and rear, hardly anything amiss except a couple of very minute scratches to deal with.

Copy of P1000244.jpg Copy of P1000250.jpg

As you can see stand was not good looking so cleaned and treated with antioxidante paint.

Copy of P1000225.jpg Copy of P1000254.jpg

Rough location of 'new' dish ( to be used for tests/scans etc) next to other.
