Make a website HOW?

Been thinking about making a basic website but need some advise to get me started have been looking at a few servies like

The best i have seen so far is _http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/hosting/compare/ which offer a web building package any of you had any experiance with these of is there any thing better?.

Here are few tips that I can give you:
1 - Decide on Linux or Windows hosting
2 - Your Domain control. DON'T let anybody else except yourself do the registration, even if they tempt you with free registration. This way you have full control over your domain.
3 - Decide on a domain name and logo and make sure that there isn't something similar, to avoid angry letters from lawyers representing an already established and profitable website.
4 - How much you are willing to pay/month. Price has gone down, especially in the USA.
5 - Look for web hosting which offers a good control panel like Plesk so that you will cut the support to a minimum.

Hi thanks for the pointers. Where do i reg a domian and where do i reg the domian name? if you say i need to do it myself?, :)

I use Network Solutions because they have an excellent Account Manager interface. But there are cheaper registration companies
_http://www.networksolutions.com

I would go for a one year registration to start with if you decide on a .com
If you need .co.uk, then you might consider Nominet, but I think they have more rules and is quite expensive.

ukreg (Fasthosts) are cheap and also offer hosting. They have an FAQ section that should answer your questions. Don't use Nominet to buy a domain.

Making a website is fairly easy; making a good website isn't.
