making vcl defult player

hi i tried this one in the computer section but no joy.i recently changed my defult player from vcl to media player.as my mobile phone would not communicate with vcl. now i would like to stream my dream box over my network but can not as window media player dont work. i have tried going to progame defults but only real player and media player are the only ones listed. i do not want to reinstall video lan again as i will proberly want to switch again. thanks in advance
 
i presume that .m3u is what your talking about?

open my computer..

Tools> Folder options...

choose the tab.. file types.

then wait a few secs

scroll down to m3u

click change..

and choose the program you wish to use... VLC

;)

note sometimes the changes dont take effect till you reboot
 
The easiest way I have found to fix this problem is to just download the vlc setup program from _http://www.videolan.org and reinstall it.
 
thank u red devil u are spot on at first i thought u miss understood my question. but i followed your instructions and it worked a treat. im sure this will be helpfull to other folk as well.
