Mars Science Laboratory launch

NASA will launch their new Mars rover (Curiosity) this afternoon. The launch window opens about 1500 UK time, and will almost certainly be carried on the NASA TV web stream. And probably the main tv news channels if its a quiet news day.

THe rocket is an Atlas V & the launch base is Cape Canaveral.

Ah, that probably explains why I saw Prof. Pillinger's face on Telly yesterday. Wasn't really paying attention, but he's the guy who lost his pet Beagle, right?

I suppose it would be too much of a coincidence if the rover landed on Mars, discovered an alien feline species, then ran it over.....

BBC news ...has just reported saying the Launch _will_ be screened live in about 30 minutes.
Currently in work away from my dishes ..so hope this is the case ...as I wouldn't want to miss it ..
Fingers crossed everything goes according to plan ..after the let down of Phobos Grunt.
