Has anyone tried Maxthon recently? I currently have a problem with my on-line BTMail when using Chrome whereby if I change directories I get logged out, speaking to the Mumbai hierarchy who are about as useful as a chocolate teapot, they 'suggest and insist' that I switch to Firefox to overcome the problem, which I refuse to do and do not consider a change of browser to be a solution to the problem more of a workaround. So I have been looking at alternatives and have downloaded and installed Maxthon which I think was originally called MyIE. With my 4th Gen I5 laptop on W8.1 it seems extremely quick and I logged into this site in less than one second which is often one minute using Chrome. Does anyone else use Maxthon? what are the pitfalls?

Honestly, have never even heard of this browser! But if it works....

I have very occasional issues with Chrome not loading some pages straight away or being incompatible with some content. It's very rare though.. and I have Safari as backup.

There's also Vivaldi that I've yet to check out. It's folks from Opera that's started a new company.

Maxthon has been my browser for over 2 years, lightning fast in comparison to Chrome and Firefox.

Is no-one worried by the fact that firm that developed Maxthon is based in China?

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Never heard of Maxthon, sounds like a tool you'd use to run extensive tests on old Maxtor hard drives (you know, Maxtor Marathon, Maxthon)... :p

Sadly (me being me) I automatically added a 'g' and thought it was an item of underwear for +size ladies...anyway, I may give "Maxthon" a go, though I'm quite happy with Chrome right now...

Well does this signal the end of my use of Chrome completely?

The Chrome browser does not support NPAPI plug-ins and therefore will not run all Java content.
Switch to a different browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari on Mac) to run the Java plug-in. More info

I would be screwed if they killed Java off. I use Webmin on my Linux home server which makes use of Java to allow me to make adjustments on my linux server from my Windows pcs with ease.

I have to use Opera with it as Chrome doesn't work and Firefox doesn't fully interact with some of Webmin command structure. I will have to give Vivaldi a go, Maxthon doesn't appeal to me coming from China.
