MBC ACTION MBC2 MBC4 and MBC MAX in the uk

Hello Lucy

Welcome to the forum, well you say from the North East UK which I would have thought puts you even further out of the footprint for Nilesat. Fringe reception is very fickle and what works in Gateshead may not work 5 miles down the road, so in reality you need to wait for someone near you to respond, or look through existing threads. From my general feeling I would have thought 1mtr would be too small but could be very wrong

I could get MBC on 26E on a good day with my 1.1m in North Yorkshire, but certainly not reliably.

Works fine on my 1metre channel master setup using inverto black ultra lnb.

I still haven't got around to a Black Ultra yet ................ one day!

I never got a clear picture but I did get it once or twice in the evening on my setup, although I rarely got any picture

When one lives of a small Pension, spending priorities are a little different .................

You have a pension?????:-Noooalbeit small

Yes, preserved from earlier service and taken just before my 55th birthday at an Actuarially Reduced Rate.

I don't burden the State and am content with very little. Never happier, actually, since realising the iniquity of materialism in my mid-forties.

But not so evangelical or stupid as to turn down the odd bottle of Claret and occasional hols that SWMBO's earning allow - except she lost her job and is doing Temping at a very small premium to the National Minimum Wage.

People don't need more money - they just need to learn how to budget!

And, yes, I may have enough put by to order a Black Ultra soon ................ phew, got back on Topic :o

Worth trying with a 1.25 in Ireland?

You'd need a local Northern Ireland opinion ............. can't possibly make a sensible guess based on a somewhat different location.

Okay, thanks for responding though... Sounds about right to me- SKY 45cm in England- 60cm in Ireland... 26e 110cm in England- 125cm in Ireland? Although, not sure...

No, you can't compare like that: The shape, gradient and EIRP profile of each Satellite Beam is entirely different.

You need a local report.

In North Yorkshire - bang in the centre of York to be precise - never had a problem with the MBC channels on my new Orbital 1m - 11919H has anywhere from 52% to 66% quality depending on weather and whether I tweak the dish slightly east or west. 7W is a different proposition entirely though - only getting a few select transponders on there and, even then, only on cold clear nights :(

My installer noted I couldn't get the channels reliably with my previous TD-110 but he noted it had been dented by a previous installer, at the very top of the dish. He suggested this was causing reflections from the stronger signals at 23.5E/28.2E and causing the transponder not to come in clearly.

Tonight ive noticed a big drop in signal strength off the mbc channels normally i would get around 90% on my 1.8 tonight im getting 57% signal strength,as a comparison i`m able to receive adsports hd 2-8 and jsc sports 1-10 as i write this

Edit signal strength back to normal when tested at midnight
