Mcafee firewall help

My Satellite Setup
Dreambox 500S
Laptop
My Location
United Kingdom
I am trying to network my DM500s with my PC. However Mcafee security center firewal seems to be blocking it.
The DB is flashe with Gemini 4.60 DM500 MaxVar and has cccam 2.0.10.
When I turn off the firewall and test it in the communication setup all is fine but when the firewall is on IP and Netmask have a red dot next to them indicating a problem. Nameserver and Gateway ae fine.
I have added the ip address to the trusted ip address in networks on Mcafee but it is the same.

The setup on the DB is:
IP 192.168.0.244
Netmask 255.255.255.0
Nameserver 192.168.0.1
Gateway 192.168.0.1
DHCP unticked.
Enable network ticked
Web interface port 80

I connect to the internet using a 3G mobile that I have connected using internet sharing in Windows XP.

Uninstall Mcafee would be my advice, Its rubbish :) Every time a shiny new Dell arrives at work, thats one of the first things I do, that along with all the other good for nothing autostarting software that Dell install on their machines.

There is bound to be a way to allow this to work with Mcafee, You'll need to be more specific e.g. Can you still connect to your dreambox from your PC when the firewall is turned on (To the Web interface for instance) or is it a case that its only the internet connection sharing/bridging that is not working?

Maybe someone here actually bothers to use Mcafee and could help if you give this info.

Have you added 192.168.0.244 as a safe zone? I don't use McAfee so can't help much further (I use ESET).
 
I agree with compufunk.
Tested it once on my PC and I wouldn't touch it again.
I use ZoneAlarm and it works great with router and Dreambox.
 
Whilst I appreciate that zonealarms and some free antivirus programs are excellent. I like the convenience of having it all in one.
Anyway, I have added the dreambox IP as a trusted address but still it doesn't network unless I turn off the firewall.
I thought maybe adding the port number? Does a crossover ethernet cable have a port number?

We cant help you if you don't answer our questions. Otherwise any answers we give are shooting in the dark :)

Cables don't have port numbers, but different services do. That's why I asked the question above.

You added the dreambox to your trusted zones? I cant find any reference to McAfee trusted zones on the web.

Are you talking about trusted zones in internet explorer? If so, this has no bearing on the McAfee firewall.

You need to add rules directly to the firewall.
 
Well after retesting I seem to be able to connect to internet through DB and also access the DB from my PC, in fact I'm not sure if there is anything I can't do.
Its just that when I click test in the communications setup the IP and Netmask are red and at the bottom is written network setup is not ok.
As for Mcafee I did add the IP as a trusted address in the firewall settings and not in Internet explorer.
I guess I'll leave it as is, as long as its working.
