My Satellite Setup
A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.
My Location
UK
Well it would be if there were fewer clouds here

The Perseid shower is due to start tomorrow, but there is apparently a preliminary quick burst of rice grain sized particles hitting the atmosphere in the next hour or so

Nothing here except rain and the possibility of more rain later.

Check......rain here too.

And now we are undergoing the 'more rain' bit.

Looking like the proverbial damp squid again for this evening

Thin cloud here tonight

But no, above SW London tonight we have relatively clear sky, and apart from the odd streetlight, its a good venue for the shower, due to start in about 30 mins or so (give or take an hour)

So....is it a case of looking North CH?

Looking up, and setting the camera to open exposure.

One satellite so far, and plenty of aircraft

Are you lot having the mick out of me?

I've just convinced my wife to stand out on our driveway in our slippers, and all we've seen is the empty sky...

Mind you, it wasn't totally wasted time as I recorded another classic quote from her.

She has a degree in mathematics and operational research, but still managed to come up with "shouldn't we put the car in the garage?"

STICK

Didn't you see it Stick.............neither did I. O-Ha

15 in the last 20 minutes over chelmsford.

 Now the plank opposite has turned on his 500W flood.... just so he can have a fag in brilliant daylight.

Think I'll take it out with my air rifle... the light that is, not the neighbour!

Unfortunatly not Jimbo,I have not set up the camera, went outside for a fag and had a look up at the perfectly clear sky and saw them shooting across the NW sky.

What is that bright object that moves from west to east,is it the ISS?.

Never mind, hope your security light wasn't on BTW :D

WooHoo!!! Saw three through the gaps in the cloud! I'll die happy now (but not yet hopefully).

It should be running East to West, but yest the ISS can be seen on odd occasions across the UK. Wasnt so bright last night though

I only saw one meteor and that was in the South, the cloud obscured the North part of the sky until I gave up.

Long exposure pictures taken will show only stationary stars and tracks of Heathrow traffic

Even down in sunny Provence we get clouds sometimes. Yep, you've guessed - saw absolutely zilch.

As I thought, all photos taken on long exposure were of the 'Blackpool by night' postcards.
