Actor Michael Angelis dies aged 76

The Liverpool-born actor was known for Boys from the Blackstuff and narrating Thomas The Tank Engine.

I remember him appearing as a walk on actor in many police shows from the 70's/80's, he also voiced the Thomas the Tank Engine books after Ringo Starr retired.

My favourite would be GBH though from the late 80's, a superb series that is unlikely ever to be repeated owing to the content.

I was first aware of him as rabbit mad Lucian Boswell in The Liver Birds. Wonderfully droll. And dramatically as Chrissie in The Boys from the Black Stuff.

He was born in 1952. I don't understand why so many reports are claiming that he was 76?

I used to confuse him with his brother Paul when they were both working. Paul did The Sweeney, but not sure if Michael had a part in that any time.

Michael appeared once in The Professionals according to his IMDB profile.
 
His brother Paul I remember as a policeman in Z-Cars. IIRC he died about ten years ago.
 
My first remembrance of him was as Chrissie (I think) from Boys from the Black Stuff. I think he was married to Julie Walters in the series.
