Hi Everyone !
I am using a SKY dish with a SONY VTX-S750U digibox. Recently I have experienced problems with missing channels which come and go ! For example Channel 101 (BBC1) and Channel 104 (Channel 4) will always be present but Channels 102 (BBC2), 103 (ITV1), and 105 (Channel5) come and go without warning. I would appreciate any explanation of causes and information about possibly solving this problem.
Happy New Year

Looks like the ones you are having problems with are all Horizontal channels, so could well be a bit of dish tweaking required, failing that, it could be the LNB on the way out, or even the receiver finally giving up the ghost.

Go into manual tuning menu and enter the details for 12304 H as found at http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html and see what signal strength you get.

PS. moved this to the correct section.

How can BBC1 be okay but BBC2 come and go,they are on the same frequency/polarity/sat ?

Are they, just checked and BBC1 Western England is on 10,818 Vertical and BBC2 England is on 10,773 Horizontal, unless I'm missing something.

My mistake, sorry.:o I always go by BBC1 London and BBC2 England(10.773H) because we cant get the 2D vertical channels over here:(
Well,CH4 is vertical high and FIVE is horizontal high and itv is either vertical or horizontal low,so Rolfw is right about the horizontal aspect and as that uses the higher voltage you can start with checking the dish connection and cable quality, always gets worse in wet weather.

Thanks for the various replies.
I have changed the receiver and installed an old Panasonic TUSB30 which receives all the channels, so presumably there is some problem with the SONY VTX-S750U. The Panasonic box was put aside because it also had a defect ! It tended to show channel 102 as not available but when tuned to 105 and then back to 102 the channel appears ! These are SKYEPG numbers.
Any comments ?
Incidentally all the channels show good signal strength and quality so presumably the dish, LNB and cable are OK.
