My Satellite Setup
Fortec star universal LNB, unknown dish - elliptical and large, Grundig Freesat receiver
My Location
Snowdonia, N. Wales
Hello everyone,

This kind of query has probably been raised before but here goes. I have a freesat setup with large elliptical dish (60cm I think), Fortec Star universal LNB and Grundig receiver. I set this up last year and got all channels for a while then lost the ITV stations and some others. Some forums I read suggested the power supply in the receiver may not be performing and recommended changing the capacitors so I did. The receiver still worked bu no difference to channel reception. I recently had work done to the house and took down the dish so had to put it back and re-align and retune. I did this using a satellite finder meter and picked up the satellite again, maxed out the signal and re-tuned the receiver. I still get BBC and channel 4 but not the ITV channels or channel 5 and some others. Signal strength on re-tune was about 80%; on the info menu its aup at max signal strength and quality on BBC but zero on ITV.

Any ideas? I have tried rotating the LNB either way but haven't managed to find a signal for ITV.

Location is Dolwyddelan, N. Wales.

The clue is you have lost C5 - there were some frequency changes a few months ago - the current list is here:

You probably need to rescan or add the new frequencies in.

I note you've done retune (and as it's a Freesat box, it should auto-update anyway), so my best guess would be a faulty box.

Those Grundigs do not have a good reputation, sadly.

Also, I note you have a Fortec Star LNB ............. these have caused much confusion as the zero skew datum is not with the connector at bottom dead centre, as it should be, but quite a way off.

Can't check now as I'm on galley duty, but there is a sticky Thread about the issue somewhere!
