Peter Graves - star of the classic TV series Mission: Impossible and disaster spoof movie Airplane! - has died in the US city of Los Angeles. He was less than a week away from his 84th birthday.

Although best known from Mission Impossible and his wonderful dry performance as Captain Clarence Oveur in Airplane, I remember him as well from a series called "Court Martial" in the mid sixties.
One thing I was surprised to find out is that he was the younger brother of "Gunsmoke" star James Arness.
