Moldova International - problem getting signal...

Hi guys,

I have a problem receiving Moldova International.

I've gone back in time on for instance KingOfSat as well and have picked up these frequencies:

12620MHZ 3365 3/4 V
12704MHZ 2748 3/4 H
12703MHZ 2748 3/4 H
12621MHZ 3362 3/4 V
12621MHZ 3364 3/4 V
12739MHZ 3364 3/4 V

Now, the one which is said to be active is 12621MHZ 3364 3/4 V, but even though I find channels, working properly, on the same transponder (RTK-Sat) it just won't pick anything up. I am 100% sure I'm on the correct elevation and azimuth, and noticing I have a motorised system I never need to adjust the LNB.

I have no idea what the problem could be. Is it possible Moldova International has switched to another frequency? Or am I the problem? :p
 
12620 V 3364 3/4 are the correct parameters for this Channel on W2M.

RTK1 is not on the same TP, but is on 12633 V 4833 1/2.

I wonder how capable your receiver is at coping with relatively low Symbol Rates? I'd have thought it should cope with 3364 ok/
 
Just checked and it is also showing completely dead here, whereas it is normally one of the few 16E Channels I can get on my 80cm.

I'll nip upstairs to Mission Control and see if it is coming in on the 1.1m dish.
 
Eutel W3B is due for launch tomorrow night and she will be replacing the three rickety birds at 16E.

Anyway, TVMI is coming in no problems on the 1.1m dish, so this is a signal strength/footprint/dish size issue.

What dish are you using, GJ89?
 
Thanks for checking it out for me guys :) Seems I'm not the only one with the problem. Could this new launch have anything to do with the fact Moldova International seems out?

Crossed with my last post. It's ok on 1.1m dish.

Hopefully everything from 16E will be somewhat stronger soon!

Not been the same since last year's catastrophe.
 
Interesting developments :confused: Mine is... 78cm I think, that could be the whole problem then.

However, Moldova International is situated on:
Eutelsat W2M (16.0E) - 12621.00 V - Txp: F4 - Beam: W2M-Europe

RTK 1 shows up without problems on:
Eutelsat W2M (16.0E) - 12633.00 V - Txp: F4 - Beam: W2M-Europe

...and so does RTSH:
Eutelsat W2M (16.0E) - 12656.00 V - Txp: F4 - Beam: W2M-Europe

On other common satellites like Turksat it's easy for me to get channels even under 3000kbps which makes me :confused: even more.

Interesting... what exactly happened last year, I'm quite curious now hehe. I'm not properly familiar with this whole 'business' as I've only managed to get this all to work for about 2 weeks now.
 
Yes, but different Transponders do tend to have slightly different charactersitic even though they are essentially set up for the same nominal beam.

The 12621 TP clearly is a bit dodgy as it needs a bigger dish, so you may soon be in lick once the new Birds are operational.

It's broken! Working in limited fashion on junk hardware at present.

Edit: Gosh, it was earlier this year! Must stop wishing my life away.
 
Ah, so is it possible after this relaunch it'll be easier to connect to the frequency? Or will it still be a matter of bigger dish?
 
The provisional transmission footprints for W3B are quite promising - all three European beams seem to have reasonable coverage in the UK. :)

However we will have to wait and see what happens when she fires up for the first time at 16E - and thats a good couple of months away.

TVMI has just heaved back into view on my 80cm, so it's on the cusp of reception with a modest dish. Daytime variations are normal, but in a case like this make all the difference!
 
No problem with TVMI here on a 1m dish.

SNR 82%
AGC 99%
BER 0
 
TVMI here at 89% Strength, 84% Quality. Certainly one of the weaker powered TP's though.
 
Hi guys,

Happy New Year! I'm back with the same problem LOL :| I can get every single channel on 16e, with ease, 100%. Easy transition to 13e and 19e from the elevation as well so it's absolutely fantastic. Now, here we go...

TVMI is still the one causing the damn problem. It works absolutely perfect in daytime hours. The image and sound is fantastic considering it's from Moldova really. Then, by 18:00 CET the first cracks show up, and only 15 minutes later the image is totally distorted, sound is completely distorted. I can do whatever I want to the elevation and nitpick on the position but nothing changes and situation only gets worse. This while all other channels are fantastic and don't change at all...

The signal strength is continuously 72% and the likes, and the quality is always around 56%, in daytime AND nighttime. It's very very weak I know, but in daytime it creates great images and sound. Nothing to this changes, but the image and sound completely flop, strangely enough it's ALWAYS around 18:00 CET.

Is it me? Is it the channel? Is it the dish? I don't know... I'm hoping someone can help me...

Oh, if anyone can link me to somewhere I can buy a dish larger than 80cm, IN the Netherlands, I would like...
