probabaly a stupid question but is it possible to put a monoblock on a sky minidish (75 x 55cm) to get astra and hotbird only? I assume the dish would be too small but i thought i might as well ask.

It would probably work, but the results wouldn't be the best, most monobloc LNBs work best with conventional offset 80/90cm dishes.

There's also the physical problem of making the monobloc fit the arm as the minidishes have their own methods of attachment.

I have seen adaptors that fit the sky dish to allow 40mm lnb`s to be fitted.

You can fit any 40mm universal lnb,(single/twin/quad/monoblock),to a Zone 1 and Zone 2 minidish with the Triax adaptor:

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Don't forget that minidish LNB's have a feedhorn designed for use with minidishes, so standard 40mm LNBs with circular feedhorns aren't matched to the dishes so they won't work very well...

However, some Skyware & Wistron/WNC LNBs come with 40mm adaptors fitted (but again, the LNBs are designed for minidishes), so if you got one of those, at least you'd have a spare LNB...

Plus, I have a feeling a Monoblock on a minidish wouldn't be very good as the dishes are very small and barely good enough for sky!!!

Zone 2 minidish with a monoblock is workable, however there's very little rain margin.
Astra (19E),signal quality 99-100%
Hotbird(13E),signal quality 85%,can drop on individual transponders to 26%,occasionally,but still produces a stable picture,no break up whatsoever.
The monoblock lnb is attached to the minidish with the Triax adaptor, listed above.
In the North of England.

i've seen monoblock lnb fitted to a zone 2 dish and worked quite well but better suited to a 80cm dish
