As I am a complete begginer at this satellite stuff, I need more help.

I have got my system up and running (Labgear HDSR300), but I haven't been able to connect my Panasonic HDD/DVD recorder. When I connect it using a scart connector all I get is 3/4 of a picture and it is black & white. Am I doing it wrong, or is it just that it can't be done?

How is it connected?

ie Is the Recorder connected to the Auxiliary SCART on the TV (If it has one) or to the Receiver direct?

Also, have you tried different SCART leads?

Symptoms suggest either a lead which is not correctly inserted at one (or both) ends or is not fully connected internally (ie not all PINS enabled either by fault, by design, or by poor manufacture).

I connected the satellite receiver to the dvd player by a scart lead from the only connection on the receiver to the AV 2 auxiliary on the dvd and then by a scart lead from the AV 1 connection to the only scart on the tv. I have also tried connecting the dvd to the tv by HDMI cable alone and in combination with scart lead, none of which seams to work. I have also tried 3 different scart leads.

Ah.

I suspect the paucity of SCART connections on both telly and receiver is the problem here as you have not got a fully functional daisy chain.

Not sure how you can overcome it - look back here later and see if somebody else can help.

Is there any option in the setup of either device for different TV standards? Check particularly that the Labgear isn't set to output NTSC or SECAM from the scart. It should be PAL, or possibly S-Video or composite depending on what the DVD recorder can accept..

Well, I am in your debt once again, you were spot on. When I turned the Labgear unit on, it switched the tv to a different system. Sorted now and everthing works perfectly. It's easy this satellite stuff isn't it. ( Well once somebody tells you how )

once again thanks to all who answered my cry for help.

A cracker.

Bit miffed I didn't twig the root of the problem, but PaulR's efforts have been noted and stored away for future regurgitation.
