A great character in the Rock world. Knew what he wanted to do and then did it. And only a few months after former band member Phil "Filthy Animal" Taylor also passed away.

Apparently Lemmy was only diagnosed on Boxing Day and yet he has already hung up his boots.

I think 'short battle' is an understatement. He died within 48 hours of hearing he had cancer. Up until that point he just thought he had been overworking. Which he had been having just finished a gruelling tour.

A real sad end to a great musician, song writer and performer. A rock's rock star at his finest. Hard living, but living life to the full.

all the starts of our youth are dying off - but where are the characters from the modern day music world - there doesnt seem to be much talent coming through to replace them.

RIP Lemmy.........I Bumped into him a few times at London's "St Moritz " club in the 80's ....came across to me...a was just a normal bloke/rocker and did once buy me a bier :-) ............... I saw motorhead ...just last Month here In Munich .....big loss...... really sad day :-( ....

I went to about eight concerts in all. Exeter University and the Crystal Palace Bowl in the mid 80's, mainly Hammersmith from then on.

Exeter was a hoot though.
