Hi experts,

I think I just made my first mistake on the way to motorise my system.

After reading good comments about SG2100, I went on ebay and bought this (not paid the money yet)

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5746895168

thinking that this motor can drive 1.2m dish. read the full spec carefully after the bid (I know! <you gotta laugh> :-)) realised its for dish upto 100cm. Although my dish is triax88cm, I want a stronger motor for better performance.

Options:
- I ask the seller(trade) if he has the other motor? Will pay the extra ofcourse.

- Stick to what I have. would it make any difference in perfomance?

as ever, I await for your opinions...

The SG-2100 should be fine with an 88cm, they are quite robust.

It depends if it has the auto or manual gearbox on it. I also find that acceleration is usually less in the wet.

Driveing a 85cm dish with the SG2100 it just took 43seconds from 28east to 30 west.

For the last 3 months I have been driving a 1.25m dish with the SG2100, had no problems at all with the wind.

Had to change because the little bar-stewards in the playing field/park behind my bungalow were useing the dish for target practice. As I didn't want my or my neighbours windows broken have gone back to the smaller dish mounted lower down the pole. At least the dish cannot be seen from the playing field/park, so hopefully no more golf balls coming over the hedges.

Blimey... if it's taking that long, I think you should check the gearbox... :D

Little buggers ain't they....
You could try spraying your dish in camo colours or brick red, I'm not kidding honest !!
my 80cm dish is mounted low down about 10 inches from the ground backing onto some fern trees, i'm considering spraying it in camo colours with an an air-spraygun and acrylic model paints, should do the job nicely and not affect the signal one dot.

More to the point thought I use the SG2100 and it's excellent.

It is grey showing up against grey roof tiles. It was usually at 7W and could be seen face on from down the park/playing field. I could just walk under it and my hedge is 9ft high my side but only 7ft high on the other and the park/playing field slopes down to our row of bungalows. Such is life, I checked by walking round the area my dish cannot be seen now.

Hi m8, being an 01 DG 1T I do not use supercharged motorsO-Ha . Slow and steady is good enough for me.
If you want wiz kidz "prime**il" is the place for you;) ;)
At least my MotekSG2100 is faster than my StabHH100, which will be used when I get to be an older 01 DG 1T and when I am in my dotage:D
Keep smiling and watching the sky's.

Never tried timing it before - just did 1m dish - 28E to 30W in 31 seconds.

Maybe we could set up a league table!

Anyone know what determines it?

Does the power input make a difference?

You could be right there, I have 30m of cable to my dish so there must be some voltage/power drop along that.
Although I was reading about another motor which stated the time taken driving between satellites also depended upon the load ie dish size and wind speed.

That's a fact - during the recent storms my dish went from 30 West to 28 East in 2 seconds (before it hit the wall)

Doesn't the motor go faster if you select a horisontal channel when you change to another satellite? (14v/18v)
