Moteck SG2100A motor and 1.2m dish

Marginal ............... I'd do it properly and get a meatier one.

3" would be a good size.

As said, building site/scrappy etc. Scaffold pole. Whatever.
 
Yes I wouldn't be inclined to install a motor on the Td110 as it is. The brackets look terribly stressed besides being installed incorrectly. If you can get away with a ground mount as suggested, the wind loading will be at a fair minimum.
 
..FWIW I had my TD110 mounted on the same motor for well over a year before I had signs of trouble ..
Interestingly the motor never complained and is still functioning nicely with a 90cm dish on it ..
My TD110 now being sited on a 'Darkmotor' ...
During the TD110's time on the SG2100 it was high up on a south facing wall and partially exposed above the gutter line..
In the end the problems were related to the dish clamp elevation assembly being bent out of shape due to wind loading ....and _not_ the actual motor..

Well designed, planned and executed - picking up on advice here, adding a few nice touches and generally fitting in well with the hobbyist ethos.

I like it.

Only slight concern, despite the stabilisation from the mid-position T&Ks is that the top of the pole might flex sufficiently in high winds to cause you temporary reception issues.

But only time will tell - and I rather think you might be able to apply your innate ingenuity to resolving any such problem if and when it arises.

BTW: What are the limits of your arc?
 
After the initial euphoria, I spot a possible area for improvement: See where you taped the Rx > Motor cable to the Pole?

Well, I suggest you re-route the Motor > LNB cable so that's also strapped to the Pole.

With repeated traversing of the Arc, you may find that the F connector at the Motor end of that cable gets dragged loose and won't re-tighten (Akin to pushing string).

Easy enough job, probably best left until you first notice that the Motor moves the dish, but your reception is intermittent or otherwise less than satisfactory.

Strapping it to the Pole stops the joint acting as a pivot/fulcrum (whatever the correct word is!)

I was also worried about the pole at the top, but your right time will tell. I got the pole for nothing so im hoping it will do.
IM not sure of what my limits are Tivù, how can i find out?

Test 'em!

If you have clear line of sight, I should expect you to get sniffs of Satellites from 58W to 53E with that dish.

Best left for you to play with without too much advice ............. more fun that way.

just wondering is it a big distance between 12.5 west and 58w ?

oh btw im having awful problems with my dreambox 500 clone, ****ing thing is driving me nuts, just not reliable enough to control the dish. It stops off have way adjusting it and I have to reboot to get it to the desired satellite

ill be getting a proper dreambox 500hd, only thing it will hurt my wallet
 
iv gone as far as 15w now (trying to get to 58w) and the box just keeps giving up on me so ill have to wait till i get a new dreambox
I did try to find 18w but just couldnt, could be the box, I just dont know
 
Just a small point, but an important one, you have the mast bolted to the wrong side of the T&K brackets.

Moving the brackets down might be a safer bet :)

Iv a bit of space to move the dish down even but i can always get another bracket for the pole

folks this maybe a dumb question but im still a newbie when it comes to this stuff. Ill give an example when i go from 15w to 18w is that just very small movments or should i press hard on the remote to move the dish quicker or small movement
 
you shouldn't need to move the dish in small steps, are you using usals positioning on the dreambox 500 be aware too that they dont have enough power to move the dish.

on the dish install you need to spread the brackets out and I would say get another set for lower down. what size is the pole as it looks like it could bend unless you have used a length of scaffold and the picture is deceiving

im getting a legit dreambox 500HD, that should beable to power to manage the dishm right?

see im not sure do i need one for the bottom because the pole is a few feet in the dirt and is very sturdy, just the top im worried about but ill know that when ill get some bad wind
