Just bought a Dreambox 800 and I think its at to knackering my motor.

Keep getting a flashing dish on the screen.

I entered the correct lat and long which worked with the D500 I was using previous.

The green light is still on the motor but it wont move.

Is there anything I can do or should I call an installer ?

Might also be worth trying a hard motor reset.

That worked. (hooked up old box)

I brought D800 back the shop and the guy hooked it up and same thing. His motor wouldnt work either!

Must be something with the box.

If you have saved manually adjusted satellite position, delete them all. Try again.
If that does not help, put in a fresh image and see what happens.

Went back the shop and the guy got the box working and tuned in 30W, 13E, 19E and 28E.

Now here is the problem. Took box home and hooked up. The motor will turn between the sats already tuned in above but when I go to try tune in another sat it wont find any ?

Baffled by that considering it works for the ones already installed.

Any suggestions ?

Sounds like you have enabled DiSEqC 1.2, not USALS ................

Nope. Just checked and USALS is setup.

Ok.

Not being familiar with that box, does it enable DiSEqC/USALS on a global basis
(ie Select USALS and all Satellites are included) or does it require selection to be made for each individual Satellite of interest - I have boxes which work in each of these ways. And the symptoms you give suggest that are certainly consistent with an incorrect setting of some sort.

Also, satelliteman suggested earlier doing a hard reset on the motor - have you done that? Motecks have a reset hole under the body that you can poke something like a straightened out paper clip into. (See Motor instruction leaflet). Make sure you get the right hole, as there are vent holes too!

Yeah I done that earlier and it fixed the motor because it was not fuctioning before that. It must be a D800 setting as you say because if I plug in an older box it will find other sats ie:16E etc

Right.

I think I've exhausted my repertoire of suggestions!

Perhaps you might have more advice if you get the Thread moved to a Dreambox sub-Forum as I have read that some DMs don't take kindly to H-H Motors.

Although the 800hd isn't normally an issue.

Have you highlighted "use usals for this sat" ??

I do not think I have that option.

I have Gemini on it.

I have Tuner config -> Tuner A -> Config mode simple -> positioner then lat and long.

I think the problem could well be with your satellites.xml file. Save your current settings on your desktop, and try to load a fresh set of settings including a new satellites.xml. If your motor is moving to some sats but not others, this may well be the problem.

Following on from this thread:

http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...orised-systems/166429-motek-2100-problem.html

I have noticed that since I done a hard reset that the alignment is somewhat off. For instance 16E when obtained by the motor only picks up about 54% signal strength and BER 600,000 sometimes less so I cant even see a picture. But if I manually move the dish through the box I can easily get that upto 80% and BER 0. When I went to manually move the dish to 0 I had to keep holding the button even when I hit reset with a pin because if I did not the dish kept swinging toward 70 east for some reason and would not remain at 0. Basically I think what happened was that when I hit reset the dish must have been slightly off 0. I am going to try a hard reset again to see if I can fix it but if not I would appreciate some help with controlling my sat through DISEqC instead of USALS and how to store sat positions.

I am using a DM800.

Cheers

The Reset didnt do much tbh!

Think I am going to try again and offset 0 to the west.

It seems to give a much higher signal strength.

Success!

I offset the dish about 3 degrees to the west and now have far improved signal on all satellites.

If only I knew it was offset the first time intead of following the instructio manual and going to 0

Oh well you live and learn :)

Very glad you've got it all sorted out.

Thanks.

Is it normal for a dish to be offset this way ?

Just wondering as the motor manual says to move to 0 when doing a hard reset.
