Hi There,

I've acquired a 1.1M triax dish and have a DiseqC 1.2 capable receiver. I wish to motorise setup. As luck would have it the dish came with a polar mount. Thus the way I see it I have a few options:

1) 36V actuator + Vbox capable of translating DiseqC 1.2.
2) DiseqC 1.2 H to H motor.

Do I have other options?

What should I got for?

On the actuator front I've noticed they come in different lenghts 12",18",24" etc - how does one know what length to get - is it dish size or complete arc in degrees which is the deciding factor?

I also note in a previous post there is such a thing as a DiseqC 1.2 capable actuator, but it seems nobody has any experience of these to date ( http://tinyurl.com/5vtzn )... is this still the case?

Cheers

You have a Polar mount-so use it. 12 inch actuator should be fine.

Why do you have to have a Vbox? There are other ways to get 36volts.

Okay, what other ways are there to get 36V? I'd quite like the receiver to be able to tell the motor/acutator where to go... I thought a Vbox could convert DiseqC to 36V commands.... What are the other options...

The reason for using 36 volt actuators or motors on dishes over 1mt is that thay are more robust and able to deal with the weight better in strong winds.
Size of actuator depends has how much of the arc you want to cover a 24 inch takes me from about 40 east to 50 west.

Great post. You've obviously done some homework. With a 1.1M dish and the polar mount you already have, I'd go for option 1 unless it's in a location which is very sheltered from the wind and you want to go cheap.

The VBOX is a great piece of kit.

I am using Triax 110 and H-H 120 motor.just working fine,no problem at all.

Actuator is a good choice for windy area.but its noisy.
