Hi all,

I noticed tonight for the first time that when powering down my Vu+ receiver, my Technomate 2300 motor's light goes from solid green to red and then off. It's only for about 0.5 seconds that it goes to red but it still does it - is this something to be worried about? The motor was only bought and installed in September 2015 and generally is working fine. I tested moving the dish and that worked fine but no matter how many times I power it down, it goes green > dims to red briefly > off. As soon as the receiver comes on, it goes back to solid green.

Does anyone else's motor do the same? Is it simply an automated procedure during shutdown - maybe the coax no longer drawing power makes it think there's a problem? or something worth worrying about?

Not an expert, but I think that once the power is switched off the voltage decays and you'll get random results. Also, notice the forward voltage for red LED is lower than for green LED so as the voltage drops to where there's no longer enough oomph to drive the green, it goes out allowing the red to light.............just saying!

Thank you both.

It's something I've never noticed before, I just happened to try out the Vu+ remote app on my phone whilst bringing in the washing and happened to catch the light on red for a mere few seconds. I guess it does make sense that when the voltage decays, there is simply not enough power going to the motor which would correctly signal a red light. When powering up it does the same I just noticed, but instead goes from orange to green (solid) - I guess its just doing the opposite.

When turning on, it is normal to go green and the receiver tells the engine which satellite has to be (DiSEqC orders), at that moment the motor led to orange (data blinking) and again goes green.

During normal operation.
The led is green indicating OK.
For a few seconds it turns orange when the tuner sends commands to the engine.
Some receivers only send the order of change of satellite once, but others every few seconds, if the engine is already in the satellite, the motor will not move, it is normal behavior, that is why we see that the motor led on Orange, with the VU + DUO2 / DB800S-HD is normal.

Led orange steady, we have problems.
If the engine is stuck, the turn signal sensor warns and the led is all orange.
These topics are indicated in the last pages of the engine manual.
Check the one you have, it may vary somewhat, but it will be similar.
--------------------

Led naranja fijo, tenemos problemas.
